Bor to get its first solar power plant
The Institute for Mining and Metallurgy Bor, Netinvest from Belgrade, and the Swiss company S2P Electric, a subsidiary of SS&A Power Group, have signed an agreement for the joint development and construction of a 56 MW solar power plant in Bor. This will be the first solar power plant of this scale in Serbia, built to the highest environmental standards on a site currently classified as an environmentally endangered mining waste zone, which will be transformed into a solar ecological park.
With a total investment of €40 million, the project will create jobs for local experts, who will work alongside international colleagues. Construction is set to begin in 2022, and upon completion, the project will provide a significant source of carbon-free electricity for Bor and the surrounding region.
